The major role of this group is to develop new beamlines and special-purpose end stations, and to provide regular maintenance, support, and upgrade of existing beamlines and the associated experimental facilities.

The development of new beamlines or end stations generally starts with conceptual design and analysis, followed by engineering design, construction, and commission. Regular maintenance and support ensure smooth operation of the beamlines, while new functions or upgrades are provided where necessary to improve their performance. The above work requires expertise on optical and mechanical design, electronics, and instrument control, all of which are integrated to provide continual development of experimental facilities in order to meet the demands of advanced research.
