NSRRC Activity Report 2023
132 NSRRC ACTIVITY REPORT 2023 The 10 th Annual Ambient Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy Workshop The APXPS 2023 Workshop included 131 participants from 25 countries to share their research using APXPS technique. The 2023 workshop on Ambient Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (APXPS) was hosted by the NSRRC from December 5 to 8 in Taipei. This series of workshops was traditionally held at the worldwide synchrotron facilities, with the first one taking place at SOLEIL, France in 2014. Since then, the workshop has run continuously on an annual basis, even during the difficult pandemic years, when the workshop was switched to a virtual format. The APXPS 2023 proceeded with an in-person format due to the difficulties regarding time zone differences among the three major continents. The workshop brought together 131 researchers and students from 25 countries to share and learn the latest discoveries employing the APXPS technique in a wide variety of research fields, including electrochemistry, interfacial science, catalysis, and materials science. It featured talks delivered by two plenary speakers, eight invited speakers, and 29 contributed speakers, poster sessions of 24 poster presentations, a commercial-sponsor session, and a visit to the synchrotrons. The workshop devoted its first two-and-a-half days (December 5 to 7) to the technical programs covering various scientific topics at the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation International Convention Center located in downtown Taipei. On the afternoon of December 7, a relaxing excursion included a visit to the National Palace Museum and concluded with a banquet serving fine local cuisine of Taipei. On the morning of December 8, workshop participants were transferred to the NSRRC in Hsinchu, with the program featuring a town meeting to discuss issues related to the future development of the APXPS and a visit to Taiwan Photon Source.
