Facts & Figures 133 Synchrotron Radiation and Neutron Research Forum at 2021 MCPST Annual Meeting Scholars from TKU visited the NSRRC for the joint seminar. and Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. The scholars from TKU introduced their research expertise to NSRRC scientists in return; they discussed the potential research that could be conducted at the NSRRC. The participants from both sides had a fruitful discussion; the scholars from TKU looked forward to using NSRRC experimental facilities in their future research. The 2021 Annual Meeting of Modern Challenges in Polymer Science and Technology (MCPST) was held as an online meeting on July 9 and 10. On the second day of the meeting, Dr. Wei-Tsung Chuang and Shih-Chun Chung of the NSRRC organized a “Synchrotron Radiation and Neutron Research Forum”. The first part of the forum was based on synchrotron radiation techniques and applications. Seven TPS endstations and their experimental techniques were presented to the participants, followed by industrial applications as well as the academic research using these techniques shared by seven users. The second part of the forum was based on neutron research. The techniques of neutron scattering, reflection and diffraction, as well as the neutron project of the NSRRC, were presented to the participants. Three neutron users then shared their research using related techniques. About 200 researchers, scholars and students participated in the forum and learned how to use NSRRC facilities and resources to facilitate their research. NSRRC Colloquium at 2021 MRSTIC The 2021 Materials Research Society of Taiwan International Conference (MRSTIC) was held from November 13 to 17 as a virtual conference. On the first day, a brief introduction of NSRRC’s experimental techniques and neutron facilities was presented during the MOST MSE Division Colloquium, followed in the afternoon by the NSRRC Colloquium organized by Dr. Yan-Gu Lin. In the NSRRC Colloquium, Academician King-Ning Tu, Distinguished Professor Jimmy C. M. Kao (National Sun Yat-sen University) and Dr. Shen-Chuan Lo (Industrial Technology Research Institute) talked about the academic research and industrial applications of the research and experimental techniques of synchrotron radiation. Abundant information regarding the connections between academic society and industry as well as future scientific development was provided at this online colloquium.
