132 ACTIVITY REPORT 2021 Conferences and Workshops NSRRC as the Taiwan Meeting Site for AWMS-2021 The Asian Workshop on Molecular Spectroscopy 2021 (AWMS-2021) was held on March 9 and 10. Due to the uncertain Coronavirus situation, the meeting was partially online and featured local meeting sites, which were Japan, Taiwan, China and Korea, connected via streamed video talks. NSRRC was selected to be the local meeting site in Taiwan. The five themes covered in AWMS-2021 included new spectroscopic techniques, precision measurements, application of spectroscopy to dynamics, spectroscopy in the gas phase, condensed phase spectroscopy, theory and analysis. TKU-NSRRC Seminar On April 27, a group of scholars and a journalist from Tamkang University (TKU) led by Prof. Chii-Dong Ho, Vice-president for Academic Affairs, visited the NSRRC for academic interchange at the TKU-NSRRC Seminar. In total 40 scholars and scientists from both sides took this opportunity to learn the applications of the experimental techniques and possibilities of research at the NSRRC. During the seminar, NSRRC scientists introduced TPS 45A2 TKU Endstation and TPS 27A1 Soft X-ray Nanoscopy to the TKU scholars, who were affiliated with the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Chemical and Materials Engineering, NSRRC Forum at 2021 Chemical Society National Meeting NSRRC was selected to be the Taiwan meeting site for AWMS-2021. 2021 Chemical Society National Meeting was held from March 12 to 14 at National Central University. The main theme of this meeting was green and sustainable chemistry. An NSRRC forum on “Synchrotron Radiation and Chemistry” was organized by Dr. Shih-Huang Lee of the NSRRC on the second day. In the forum, eight NSRRC scientists from eight TPS and TLS beamlines gave presentations on synchrotron radiation techniques and applications on X-ray excited optical luminescence, soft X-ray tomography, scanning transmission X-ray microscopy, quick-scanning X-ray absorption spectroscopy, ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering, microcrystal X-ray diffraction, and high-resolution powder diffraction. More than 50 scholars, researchers and students attended the forum and received fruitful information from discussions with NSRRC scientists.
