Facts & Figures 125 Major Events NSRRC Board Meetings The NSRRC Board of Trustees (BOT) was established in 2003; each BOT serves a three-year term. The BOT is responsible to ensure that NSRRC is integral to the scientific community and serves its purposes. The sixth NSRRC BOT held its ninth Board Meeting on February 23, which was also the last meeting of the sixth BOT. The Annual Budget Estimate, Annual Audit Report and 2020 Final Accounts were approved in the meeting. Afterwards, the seventh NSRRC BOT (see page 114 for details) began its term from March 1, 2021, and had its first and second Board Meetings on July 21 and December 21, as well as the Executive Board Meeting on August 25. The Supervisory Board Meeting was held on April 6. In the July meeting, the NSRRC management gave status reports on NSRRC operation, TLS and TPS, and presented the Preliminary Budget Estimate of 2022, the issues of NSRRC’s internal regulations and progress plans. In August, the NSRRC management presented a progress report on the NSRRC along with the prospect on scientific research and experimental facilities. In December, the BOT discussed the issues on the Science Advisory Committee, Preliminary Budget Estimate of 2023, 2021 Audit Report and 2022 Audit Plan. The 2020 Final Accounts were approved in the Supervisory Board Meeting in April. Future Tech 2021 The 2021 Taiwan Innotech Expo was held by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and related government agencies from October 14 to 16 in Hall 1 of the Taiwan World Trade Center. A "Future Tech Theme Pavilion" was held as an Online Exhibition from October 14 to 23; it focused on "six core tactics" including AIoT & Smart Applications, Electronics & Optoelectronics, Evolutionary Materials & Green Energy, Aeronautics & Space Technology and Precision Health. The exhibition was A Story about the Development of Synchrotron Light Sources in Taiwan Published on August 30 Co-published by the NSRRC and Commonwealth Publishing Group, the book of title 追光之旅 (literally translated as The Journey of Pursuing Light ), a story about the development of synchrotron light sources in Taiwan, hit the online and physical bookstore shelves on August 30. This non-fiction book documents the challenging journey of how the scientific pioneers led to achieve major scientific innovations. This book unveils the historical development of the synchrotron radiation facilities, accelerator technology and its applications in Taiwan. Readers learn how the first light source in Taiwan came to a reality at a time of economic and academic transformation as well as how the construction of the second light source was broached, set into motion and became a booster for the world’s top research. organized to display cutting-edge Taiwanese technologies and innovative industrial applications. The NSRRC held an online exhibition with six booths at the 2021 Future Tech Theme Pavilion. Among the significant technologies that NSRRC currently developed, NSRRC selected and displayed six crucial and advanced technologies, including “Next-Generation Energy for Wearable Devices: Bioinspired, Eco-Friendly and Flexible The book cover of The Journey of Pursuing Light.
