138 ACTIVITY REPORT 2020 Synchrotron Radiation Forum at 2020 PS Annual Meeting The 2020 Annual Meeting of Physical Society (PS) of Taiwan took place at National Pingtung University from February 5 to 7. A NSRRC forum on “the emergent opportunity for scientific research with a high-brilliance synchrotron light source” was organized by Dr. Chia-Hao Chen (NSRRC) on the second day. After the brief opening remarks given by Director Gwo-Huei Luo (NSRRC), six NSRRC beamline scientists spoke about the synchrotron radiation techniques and applications of TPS phase-II beamlines in physics, including small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering, photoelectron-related image and nano-spectroscopy, scanning transmission X-ray microscopy, NanoARPES, ambient-pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and high-speed micro-tomography. In total 74 scholars, researchers and students attended the forum and received fruitful information from discussions with NSRRC scientists. The workshop was open to doctoral students and postdoc- toral researchers who had the intention of short-term internship for SIKA at ANSTO, Australia. The program consisted of an introduction to a neutron instrument and SIKA, elastic and inelastic neutron scattering, experience shared from SIKA users, as well as a hands-on session of operation simulation. Twelve researchers and students were interested to use SIKA and participated in this workshop; one was selected for the internship at SIKA. (The internship was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)
