NSRRC Distinguished Scientist Dr. Di-jing Huang was honored as the "2024 Outstanding Alumnus of NTHU College of Science" for his remarkable academic achievements. Dr. Huang earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Physics from National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) from 1980 to 1986, followed by a doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Austin, USA. He then completed postdoctoral research at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, USA. In 1996, In 1996, Dr. Huang joined NSRRC, where he served as Deputy Director from 2010 to 2018 and has been a Distinguished Scientist since 2012. Moreover, he has held a joint professorship in the Department of Physics at NTHU since 2005, actively promoting the "NSRRC-NTHU Graduate Program in Science and Technology of Synchrotron Light Source" and fostering academic collaboration between the institutes.
Dr. Huang's research spans across experimental solid-state physics, strongly correlated electron systems, electronic structure of metal oxide thin films, and soft X-ray spectroscopy. He is particularly focused on developing experimental techniques for electron spin-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy and utilizing soft X-rays to study magnetic structures of advanced materials, achieving notable accomplishments. Additionally, Dr. Huang has received several prestigious awards, including the "Early-Career Investigator Research Achievement Award" from Academia Sinica (2005), the "Outstanding Research Award" from the National Science Council (2006), the "Academic Award" from the Ministry of Education (2009), the "Outstanding Scholar Award" from the Foundation for the Advancement of Outstanding Scholarship (2009-2012), and was elected as a Fellow of the Physical Society of Taiwan (2015), gaining recognition from the physics community both domestically and internationally.
