The annual NSRRC Open House was held on November 2, welcoming 475 participants of all ages. The event brought science closer to everyday life, inviting children to explore the unknown world through interactive games and engaging hands-on experiences.
This year’s program began with two captivating popular science talks: “Launching the Radiation Safety Mission” and “The Laboratory Exploration Team.” The excitement continued with a guided tour through eight science stations. Four themed stations featured “Ultra-Precise AI Control,” “Instant Freezer at –269°C,” “The Journey of Electron Soldiers in the Linac Accelerator,” and “Synchrotron Light Powering Industrial Innovation.” The participants also visited four experimental stations at Taiwan Photon Source 21A, 23A, 27A, and 32A, where they had a rare opportunity to peek inside the light source and learn how scientists use advanced synchrotron facilities and technologies to explore atomic and molecular structures. Through fun, science-themed games and experiments inspired by daily life, participants discovered how synchrotron light reveals the hidden secrets of nature.
Meanwhile, NSRRC also invited the Huang Kang Education Foundation, NTHU’s THz Optics & Photonics Center, and the National Taiwan Science Education Center to host interactive booths. With creative DIY activities and hands-on experiments, participants experienced the excitement of science in a lively and inspiring atmosphere.
