Congratulations to Mr. Gao-Yu Hsiung for being elected as a 2021 Taiwan Vacuum Society (TVS) Fellow, as well as Dr. Yan-Gu Lin for winning the 2021 TVS Young Scientist Award.

Mr. Gao-Yu Hsiung is a scientist of Vacuum Group, Instrumentation Development Division in the NSRRC. In addition to the design of the accelerator ultra-high vacuum system, he also has expertise in synchrotron radiation photon-stimulated desorption (PSD) phenomenon and accelerator vacuum chamber (NEG-coating) analysis. His various research results have been highlighted globally in the field of accelerator technology. Moreover, he has been invited by several international accelerator organizations to present in meetings or to serve as a technical advisor or a reviewer. It has been his long-term goal to promote international collaboration on accelerator research and to assist domestic vacuum manufacturers to enhance their design and application.

Dr. Yan-Gu Lin, an associate scientist of the NSRRC, is currently the group leader of Materials Science Group, Scientific Research Division. He specializes in synchrotron radiation experiment techniques, including X-ray scattering and X-ray absorption, and has research interests in energy materials, photoelectrochemical hydrogen generation, heterogeneous catalysis, electronchemical capacitor and fuel cells. To date, he has demonstrated scientific excellence. Not only a number of his outstanding works have been published and highly cited, but he has also been invited to give presentations or to play a significant role in numerous international conferences and workshops.

TVS set up the honor of “Taiwan Vacuum Society Fellow” to praise the scientist has remarkable achievements in academic or practical applications in the field of vacuum technology. Also, the "Young Scientist Award" is established for rewarding young researchers having outstanding results in vacuum-related fields and for encouraging them to contribute themselves to long-term research of vacuum technology. These aim to enhance scientific capability and to cultivate scientists for strengthening vacuum science and technology in industrial applications.
