Availability and MTBF of TLS
As the first synchrotron light source in Taiwan to serve users for more than two decades, Taiwan Light Source (TLS) has gradually raised the stored beam current to 360 mA at a beam energy of 1.5 GeV since 2010. Its availability during user time, defined as the ratio of the delivered user time to the scheduled user time, has maintained better than 98 % since 2012. In 2017, due to the operational parameter optimization, a significant improvement on the accelerator reliability was achieved. Within the scheduled user time of 4,669 hours, mean time between failures (MTBF) thus reached a new record of 259.4 hours, accordingly to provide not only stable but also reliable synchrotron light to users.
