The 13th Science Advisory Committee (SAC) Meeting of the NSRRC was held on October 14 and 15, chaired by Prof. Keith Hodgson of Chemistry at Stanford University and SLAC, USA. Attending members included Prof. Chi-Chang Kao, Director Emeritus of SLAC, USA; Prof. Alexander Wu Chao, Emeritus Professor at SLAC; Prof. Tai-Chang Chiang, Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA; Dr. Qun Shen, Deputy Director of the National Synchrotron Light Source II at Brookhaven National Laboratory in the USA (online attendance); Dr. Oliver Bunk from the Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland; Dr. Do Young Noh, President of the Institute for Basic Science, Korea; Distinguished Prof. Minn-Tsong Lin and Chair Prof. Li-Chyong Chen from the Department of Physics, National Taiwan University; and Dr. Junko Yano from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the USA, all of whom are distinguished synchrotron radiation experts from around the world.

NSRRC management delivered a welcome address and reported on the current operational status of the Taiwan Light Source (TLS) and the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS). The meeting continued with presentations given by NSRRC scientists on facility developments, scientific highlights in condensed matter physics, biological sciences, and functional materials, as well as the challenges and future directions of the NSRRC. Throughout the sessions, SAC members engaged in in-depth discussions with NSRRC scientists, offering valuable insights and suggestions for NSRRC's ongoing scientific advancement.
