Legislator Naglim Tiunn Led Legislative Yuan Education and Culture Committee Visit to NSRRC
On April 7th, Legislator Naglim Tiunn, representing the Legislative Yuan’s Education and Culture Committee, led a delegation to visit the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC). Hosted by NSRRC Board Chairman Chen-Kang Su and Director Chia-Hung Hsu, the visit included a briefing by Deputy Director Der-Hsin Wei on the NSRRC’s research achievements and development plans. Chairman Su emphasized that sustained government support is crucial to Taiwan’s technological progress and thanked the collaborative efforts of industry, government, academia, and research sectors in elevating the nation’s global scientific standing.

During the tour of the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS), Legislator Tiunn explored an in-depth understanding of the facility’s key infrastructure, including accelerator magnets and the vacuum system. She also visited three representative beamline facilities: Protein Micro crystallography (TPS 05A), High-Resolution Powder Diffraction (TPS 19A), and the Projection and Transmission X-ray Microscopes (TPS 31A). The visit highlighted the wide-ranging applications of synchrotron radiation in fields such as precision medicine, net-zero technologies, materials science, and climate studies. Praising NSRRC’s dedication to scientific research, industrial innovation, and talent development, Legislator Tiunn expressed hope that NSRRC will remain a key force in advancing Taiwan’s science and technology on the global stage.
