NSRRC Users, Profs. Hao-Ming Chen, Chung-Li Dong, Bing-Joe Hwang, Ru-Shi Liu and Chia-Wen Wu, and NSRRC Scientist Dr. Yu-Cheng Huang Named Highly Cited Researchers 2023
2023/12/11
The Web of Science Group, a Clarivate Analytics company, unveiled its latest list of Highly Cited Researchers. The 2023 list features 7,125 Highly Cited Researcher designations from 67 countries and regions over the world, including six NSRRC users and researcher, Prof. Hao-Ming Chen in “Chemistry Category”, as well as Prof. Chung-Li Dong, Dr. Yu-Cheng Huang, Prof. Bing-Joe Hwang, Prof. Ru-Shi Liu and Prof. Kevin Chia-Wen Wu in “Cross-Field Category”.

Prof. Hao-Ming Chen in Chemistry of National Taiwan University is an adjunct scientist of the NSRRC and the first awardee of the NSRRC Outstanding Paper Award. As an expert in in-situ X-ray absorption and diffraction experiments by using the synchrotron radiation research facilities at the NSRRC, he consistently produces research results of high profile and significant influence. This signifies the third time he has been named to the list (2020, 2022 and 2023). Prof. Bing-Joe Hwang in Chemistry Engineering of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, also an adjunct scientist of the NSRRC, has passionately devoted himself to the study of nanostructured energy materials for lithium-ion batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, etc. Over the years, he has accomplished a multitude of major breakthroughs in battery technology and received numerous awards worldwide. This marks his second consecutive inclusion on the list.

Prof. Chung-Li Dong in Physics of Tamkang University, pioneers interdisciplinary research in synchrotron X-ray spectroscopy with a focus on energy-related materials and surface/interface science. He has achieved significant breakthroughs in in-situ soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy, making a profound impact on the scientific community. Moreover, the highly cited researcher Dr. Yu-Cheng Huang was mentored by Prof. Dong during his Ph.D. studies before December 2022. Dr. Huang has recently emerged as a postdoctoral research fellow in the X-ray Absorption Group of the NSRRC. Leveraging Prof. Dong's expertise, Dr. Huang is currently dedicated to the developments and design of in-situ systems for catalytic reaction studies using synchrotron-based spectroscopy. It's both of their debut appearance on the list.

Prof. Ru-Shi Liu in Chemistry of National Taiwan University has earned a place on the prestigious list for the fifth time (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023). Being a remarkable inorganic material chemist, he has devoted himself to the field of green energy for more than 30 years by developing the core technology of materials chemistry. His extensive experiences and outstanding achievements in both academia and industry are internationally renowned. Prof. Kevin Chia-Wen Wu in Chemical Engineering of National Taiwan University has been chosen for three years in a row. He specializes in the synthesis of mesoporous nanomaterials as well as the applications in optoelectronics, energy materials and biomedicine. The quality and quantity of his published SCI papers in the field of mesoporous materials not only rank first in Taiwan, but also enhance his international reputation and visibility.

The Highly Cited Researchers list by Clarivate is an annual recognition of influential scientists and social scientists worldwide who have made significant contributions. Each researcher selected for the list has authored multiple highly cited papers which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field and publication year in the Web of Science over the past 11 years from January 2012 to December 2022. These researchers contribute to extending the frontiers of knowledge and gaining for society innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable and more secure.
