The Ministry of Education recently presented this year's National Chair Professorships, National Award for Distinguished Contribuation to Industry-Acadmia Cooperation and Academic Awards. NSRRC user, Professor Pi-Tai Chou in Chemistry at National Taiwan University, was given the National Chair Professorships in Mathematics and Natural Science for his achievements on Molecular Spectroscopy and Ultrafast Chemical Phenomena, Semiconductor and Metal Nanomaterials in Optoelectronics, Solar Energy and OLEDs relevant researches. Being awarded National Chair Professorships in Mathematics and Natural Science twice, Prof. Chou is now named an honorary life-time National Chair Professorships.

The setting of the National Chair Professorships from Ministry of Education is to encourage academic development and reward the research and development cooperation of industry and academic practice, also to improve the level of teaching and research, and promote university's development characteristics and chain industries. Since 1997, a total of 162 National Chair Professorships have been selected, which is the highest academic and teaching award for the Ministry of Education.
