2022/12/05
The Web of Science Group, a Clarivate Analytics company, unveiled its latest annual list of Highly Cited Researchers. The 2022 list features 6,938 Highly Cited Researchers from 69 countries and regions over the world, including three NSRRC users, Prof. Hao-Ming Chen in “Chemistry Category”, as well as Prof. Bing-Joe Hwang and Prof. Chia-Wen Wu in “Cross-Field Category”.

Prof. Hao-Ming Chen in Chemistry of National Taiwan University is an adjunct scientist of the NSRRC and the first awardee of the NSRRC Outstanding Paper Award. His team has been recognized for the research on the development of in-situ techniques for chemical reactions and their findings on novel catalyst were published in the world’s leading journal, Science. Prof. Bing-Joe Hwang in Chemistry Engineering of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, also an adjunct scientist of the NSRRC, has intensely devoted himself to the study of nanostructured energy materials for lithium-ion batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, etc. Over the years, he has made a multitude of major breakthroughs in battery technology and won numerous awards worldwide. Prof. Chia-Wen Wu in Chemical Engineering of National Taiwan University has been selected twice as a Highly Cited Researcher from Clarivate Analytics. He specializes in the synthesis of mesoporous nanomaterials as well as the applications in optoelectronics, energy materials and biomedicine. The quality and quantity of his published SCI papers in the field of mesoporous materials not only rank first in Taiwan, but also increase his international reputation and visibility.

The list focuses on the achievements of researchers with highly cited papers published in the journals of sciences and social sciences indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection during the past 11 years from January 2011 to December 2021. Their publications rank top 1% by citations among those in the similar field (categorized by 21 broad fields in Clarivate Essential Science Indicators, ESI) and similar publication year. This year Clarivate extended the qualitative analysis of the Highly Cited Researchers to address increasing concerns over potential misconduct. This is an explicit call for the research community to police itself and ensure integrity in research and publications.
