The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) recently announced the awardees of the 2019 MOST Outstanding Research Award. There are five NSRRC users among them: Dr. Ming-Wen Chu, Prof. Sinn-Wen Chen, Associate Prof. Hao-Ming Chen, Prof. Hsuan-Yi Huang and Prof. Jeng-Kuei Chang.

Dr. Ming-Wen Chu, a research fellow from the Center for Condensed Matter Sciences, National Taiwan University, specializes in condensed matter physics, scanning transmission electron microscopy, electron energy loss spectroscopy, strongly correlated electron system and crystallography. Prof. Sinn-Wen Chen is currently Senior Vice President of National Tsing Hua University; materials thermodynamics and phase equilibria are his team's specialized field. Associate Prof. Hao-Ming Chen from Department of Chemistry of National Taiwan University, specializes in inorganic chemistry and energy materials. Prof. Hsuan-Yi Huang from Department of Chemistry of National Tsing Hua University, has expertise in inorganic chemistry and materials chemistry. Prof. Jeng-Kuei Chang from Department of Materials Science and Engineering of National Chao Tung University, specializes in material electrochemistry, energy materials, applications of ionic liquid, supercritical fluid and green technologies. They have demonstrated persistence, innovation and dedication to research, and have stood out from numerous outstanding scholars and researchers.

The Ministry of Science of Technology has established the "MOST Outstanding Research Award" for rewarding scientific and technological talents having outstanding research performance, thereby encouraging them to devote themselves to a career of fundamental or applied research to strength Taiwan's scientific performance and academic status in the international community. This will facilitate the social development and industrial application while highlighting diverse value of Taiwan's research efforts, which will ultimately boost the country's technological capacity. This award is given under two categories: "fundamental research" and "applied research", aiming to recognize researchers who have tackled scientific issues and strived for technological innovation.
