Former NSRRC Director, Prof. Shangjr Gwo and NSRRC User Prof. Hsing-Wen Sung Awarded National Chair Professorships from Ministry of Education

The recipient lists of the 23rd National Chair Professorships, the 2nd National Awards for Distinguished Contribution to Industry-Academia Cooperation, and the 63rd Academic Awards were recently released by the Ministry of Education (MOE). The above awards are presented annually by MOE for the purpose of promoting academic development, industry-academia collaboration, and higher education in Taiwan.

Former NSRRC Director, Shangjr Gwo, is a Distinguished Chair Professor of National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), and is currently holding the office of Director at the Research Center for Applied Sciences, Academia Sinica. He was given the National Chair Professorship in Mathematics and Natural Science for his achievement on Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Material Physics, and Nano-photonics. During his term from 2014 to 2018, as the NSRRC Director, he led the staff to complete the phase-I beamline construction of Taiwan Photon Source. NSRRC users, Hsing-Wen Sung, is a Distinguished Chair Professor of NTHU, who specializes in Bio-medical Materials, Drug Delivery System, Nanomedicine and Tissue Engineering. Being awarded National Chair Professorship in Engineering and Applied Science twice, he is now named an honorary life-time National Chair Professor.
