2018, Ho-Chin-Tui Outstanding Honors Award, Ruey-an Doong, Chih-Huang Lai, Ru-Shi Liu
NSRRC Users, Profs. Chih-Huang Lai, Ruey-an Doong, and Ru-Shi Liu, received 2018 Ho-Chin-Tui Outstanding Honors Award

       The names of 3 NSRRC users, Prof. Ruey-an Doong, Prof. Chih-Huang Lai, and Prof. Ru-Shi Liu, were included in the 2018 Ho-Chin-Tui Outstanding Honors Award announcement. They were recognized in the respective categories of Environmental Protection, Materials Science, and Fundamental Sciences -- Mathematics/Physical Sciences. Prof. Doong in Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Sciences at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) specializes in remediation of pollutants in the subsurface environments, and fabrication of environmental benign nanomaterials for sensing and treatment. Prof. Lai from NTHU holds the appointment of Chair Professor in Materials Science and Engineering, and the Dean of College of Engineering. His research interests cover magnetic thin film, spintronic devices, storage materials, and magnetic nanoparticles and nanostructure. Prof. Liu from Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University is an expert in light-emitting diode (LED), fuel cells and lithium ion batteries.

       In memory of Mr. Chin-Tui Ho, the founder of Tung Ho Steel Enterprise Corp., Ho-Chin-Tui Outstanding Honors Award was initiated by Ho-Chin-Tui Foundation in 1991, to recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to education, research and promotion in the fields of Fundamental Sciences (Mathematics/Physical Sciences and Biology), Materials Science, Metallurgy, Environmental Protection, and Eco-friendly Construction. This award given by a private enterprise reflects the facts that the private sector supports scientific education, encourages industry-academia collaboration, and shares the responsibility of promoting scientific research. Through integrating and utilizing all the resources of industry and academia, continuous industrial improvements and economic growth can be achieved in Taiwan.
