Prof. Minn-Tsong Lin, a long-term user of NSRRC, officially assumes his position as the Director General of the Department of Natural Sciences and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Science and Technology, effective from September 1, 2018.

Prof. Lin is a distinguished professor in Physics of the National Taiwan University (NTU), and a research fellow at Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences, Academia Sinica. He leads the non-magnetism lab and a worldwide-recognized program on nanomagnetism, making thorough inquiries into low dimensional magnetic nanostructures and spin-dependent transport. His research fields range from spintronics to nanomagnetism, surface magnetism, surface science, nanomaterial application in nanostroage, and application of synchrotron radiation.

Prof. Lin has been devoted to promoting physical sciences. He is an active member in the Physical Society of the Republic of China (Taiwan); he served as the Society’s chair from 2016 to 2017. He was appointed as the Chair of 2015 MOST Physics Review Committee. In addition, he fosters an interest in synchrotron radiation studies in young generation through opening a course “Fundamentals and Application of Synchrotron Radiation and Neutron Scattering” at NTU for years. He was once the chair of 2006 NSRRC UEC.
