2010/12/1

NSRRC is currently constructing a new 3-GeV Taiwan Photon Source (TPS) at the existing site. This machine is a low-emittance 3rd generation storage ring based on a 24-DBA-cell design. Insertion devices located in six 12-m and eighteen 7-m straight sections can deliver x-rays with a brightness higher than 1020 photons/sec·mm2·mrad2 in an energy range from 400eV to 10 keV. Moreover, the available energy of x-rays can be extended to 50 keV by using a superconducting wiggler. The new ring is scheduled to open to users in 2014. Complying with the operation of the TPS ring, seven phase-I beamlines, including:
  • Micro X-ray protein Crystallography
  • High-resolution inelastic soft X-ray scattering
  • Sub-micron soft X-ray spectroscopy
  • Coherent X-ray scattering
  •  Sub-micro X-ray diffraction
  • X-ray nano probe
  • Temporal coherent X-ray diffraction

are under construction and scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014.

The call for letter of interest is aimed to solicit domestic and international users to provide contribution to the plan of the phase-II beamlines during year 2015-2020, covering new scientific thrust areas, optics and equipment upgrade.  The relocation and upgrade of the existing x-ray beamlines/endstations will also be included in the TPS phase-II plan.
